In late April we had our first full week of riso workshops, with 40 participants in over 10 workshops. These small workshops give us a chance to really focus on each artist and spend 1:1 time experimenting with different riso printing techniques, colours, and paper. Participants are then invited to display their prints in the for sale section of the gallery. We’ve already had some participants make their first professional sale as an artist, and others completely selling out of their works. It’s awesome being able to help artists blossom as well as build the riso community, which is a big part of our ethos here at Tree Paper Gallery. If you’d like to take part in a workshop, keep an eye on our insta for upcoming dates.
Part of our community building is enjoying artists and like-minded people dropping by the gallery to say hello. Some great ideas have been brainstormed already in the space and we are looking forward to these coming to life. Soon we’ll be starting fortnightly launches of zines and a new round of workshops.
Hope to see you soon down at Tree Paper Gallery in Campbell Arcade under Flinders Street Station. Our little oasis in the hustle and bustle of Melbourne.
